Smoking was quite the norm, in the early ’60s’ and our mother smoked, in the house and in the car. Us kids were pretty heavy, second hand smokers. Three of momƒ??s five kids became smokers. I was the last to quit. Mom gave them up in her late fortyƒ??s.. 40+ years a slave to cigarettes -roughly 291,000 @ a pack a day. @ $3.00 a pack average $43,650 WOW! Not to mention lighters, matches, gas money, etc. Some of the stories, I could tell, of what I’d do for a smoke- embarrassing, to say the least I use to go to the gym, back in my early 20’s and I’d smoke in the gym bathroom, between workouts. Pathetic! The manager had to put a sign on the bathroom door No Smoking. I was a considerate smoker, later in life, to everyone but myself. (So much time was wasted, walking to a Smoking Area!) I’d have to use mouthwash and scrub my hands after smoking, (when possible) so as not to stink so bad around customers, friends, family and especially around my girlfriend. Through time, I tried, but failed to quit. I tried hypnosis, acupuncture, Nic gum, patches and cold turkey. I smoked Nat Sherman cigs for 18 years, till I had to pay $8.00 for a pack. To save $, I went to American Spirits, and rolled my own for the last three years. Filter less Rollies are hard on the lungs! I’d given e-cigs a go in 2009, for a couple weeks. Using both analog and electronic. With the lack of availability of the product, at the time, and the difficulty to stay replenished, it was too easy to stay with real cigs. April 2013 I thought I’d give the e-cigs another go. I tried a Blue brand, that was supposed to last a week, but it was dead in 2 days. Still determined, I located a source for a better device. It took 2 months to wean myself off the tobacco. I was to the point that I’d only have one or two smokes, when I got home from work. June 2nd 2013, I dumped out the remaining of my loose tobacco and have not touched a smoke since. July 2nd 2013 was the 1st day, of a two-week, road trip, along the entire Oregon coast and into Seattle, then back to Sacramento. I made sure I had two batteries, 3 refillable tanks, a couple of chargers and plenty of vape fluid for the trip. No relapses! My family and friends are more then happy, to see me off the cigs, finally. They can see the difference in my skin and I smell nice, for a change. I can feel the difference in my cardio and will be able to accomplish tasks and exercise that were straining or impossible, do to lack of wind. No more hacking, wheezing or coughing!!! I do appreciate the fact that I can vape, where I could not smoke. Airports, plane flights, movies, elevators, stairwells, hospitals, you name it. In bed, on the recliner and in the car with the windows up. Itƒ??s best to not to ƒ??announceƒ?? youƒ??re vaping, in certain places. I know itƒ??s harmless to others, but not everyone is open-minded to vaping, especially smokers. Go figure. Iƒ??ve learned to spend decent money on my vaping gear, to better enjoy the experience. Cheap tanks tend to leak and getting the fluid on you hands, clothes and in your mouth- no bueno! Ultimately, I plan to wean myself down to 0 nicotine, but until then, Iƒ??ll just keep on breathing.
