I had my first cigarette at the ripe old age of 11, although neither of my parents smoked, it was the ƒ??Cool thing to do.ƒ? I really didnƒ??t start full time smoking until I was around 16, I am 41 now. Back in 2007 I attempted to quit smoking cigarettes cold turkey on New Yearƒ??sƒ?? that didnƒ??t work out so well. So I decided to talk to my DR about quitting. They wrote me a prescription for Chantix, wow I canƒ??t afford that right now at over $300 at a pop and the list of side effects was enough to keep me from even dumping that much cash on a product that isnƒ??t guaranteed. So back to smoking I went. After talking to an old time friend that I hadnƒ??t seen in a while and finding out that he had completely quit smoking using these little cigarette looking electronic cigarettes, I was impressed. So I decided heck if I donƒ??t quit Iƒ??ll at least cut back and it would be better for me on that front. I was already experiencing shortness of breath and always had a dry cough. So on the 22nd of May 2010 I found a local store that carried them and picked one up for my wifeƒ??s birthday, she never smoked and couldnƒ??t stand me smoking but put up with it. After a few days of using that I could already tell that there was something to these things. So I ordered a better device. That was delivered on the 28th of May. So a month later and down from a 3 pack a day habit to maybe ?« a pack. I decided that the 4th of July would be the day that I laid the tobacco down for good. On the 29th of June, I was driving down the road per normal in my work truck and reached for a cigarette. Huh where are theyƒ?? I looked around and didnƒ??t find them oh well I still have my e-cig so whatever, I must have left them on the freezer out in the garage. When I got to the house I went out to the garage and they werenƒ??t thereƒ??. So the search was on I knew I had some. So out to my personal truck there they were. I hadnƒ??t been in that vehicle for 2 daysƒ?? huh I quit before my quit dateƒ??. I FORGOT to smoke and havenƒ??t looked back. For the differences it has made in my life. Last year I had the opportunity to visit Moab, UT for an off-roading adventure. Being from close to sea level I was concerned on how my lungs would do at elevation even though I hadnƒ??t had shortness of breath in a long time it was still a concern. When we arrived in Utah there were no issues. For the next 5 days I was at elevations over 7000ƒ?? and climbing up and down the rocks without any issues. Has the use of electronic cigarettes changed my life? Hell yes they have. I would probably still be smoking tobacco cigarettes without them and hating myself every time I lite one up. Now I can breathe better than I have since I was a kid and I will be able to watch my grandchildren grow up and be able to play with them as well.
