I felt a need to give a testimony and this is why; I had smoked since age 16, by the time I was 18, I smoked regularly & could not quit. I didn’t know the dangers of smoking back then, so by this time, I was an unwitting victim of nicotine & the tobacco industry. I’m soon to be 53. The first e-cig that hit the market, I jumped on board however unsuccessfully because it just didn’t hit the mark, patches gave me severe headaches & the gum made my mouth sore as well as my throat…even prescriptions that were said to aid in kicking the habit failed. Almost two years ago, I tried vaping…WOW, this could truly be my saving grace for kicking this habit, I thought. It was! I quit & as a reward to myself, all the money I saved by having to buy cigarettes allowed me to justify a new piece of clothing, some better skin care to help with my skin that had been damaged by smoking for so many years. I would certainly hope that someone will hear my little voice among thousands, WHY would anyone punish individuals who have finally found a way to quit smoking? Why? Why punish those that can make a profit for not only creating a way to end many individual’s addiction but be SUCCESSFUL at doing so? It is a free market world that government has relentlessly tried to control & get their hands into every successful attempt to replace cigarettes or tobacco products. I’d like you to know, THIS IS NOT TOBACCO, YOU CANNOT CALL IT TOBACCO, THIS ATTEMPT TO CALL IT AS SUCH is GREED! Government once again controlling our rights to find alternatives to kick a nasty nicotine & psychological habit they were never able to successfully do before! Is it the tobacco company that feels the hit? Yes. If they feel the hit, SO DOES GOVERNMENT, governments tax on tobacco surely has taken a hit! I am a mother of two sons, who have children of their own, my grandchildren, who I want to be around for in a healthier body. Stop trying to punish all those that are finely tobacco free! BECAUSE OF GREED! If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it’s a duck! This is NOT A TOBACCO PRODUCTS! Taxing this in that manner will be the cause of any to return to tobacco products, they have felt the release from being a prisoner to tobacco addition & the freedom of having a little more money in their pockets to spend on other things which benefits EVERYONE. I hope my message is load & clear! Denying us the freedom to walk away from tobacco is a gross injustice to us, not only in health but our rights as US citizens to find & develop alternatives in this ‘free commerce’ world.
